Pro²Future – Cognitive and Sustainable Products and Production Systems of the Future – is an industry-related COMET K1 research Centre in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and cognitive / industrial ICT, human-machine-interaction (HMI) and data-driven process optimization with a focus on cognitive and sustainable products and production systems. These are supported by the areas of Perception, Orchestration, and Analytics. Further fields of activity of the Centre cover mechatronic systems, embedded systems, pervasive computing systems, and big data analytics.

Humanoids in Production Internships 2026 (Graz)
Full-time or Part-time at Pro2Future GmbH location in Graz
Start possible from April 1, 2026 onwards
We are offering paid summer research internships for Bachelor’s and Master’s students who wish to work on real-world AI and robotics challenges. You will research how to physically integrate humanoids into spaces designed for humans.

What you will do
- Simulation & Digital Twinning: Use tools like Siemens Process Simulate, Visual Components, or NVIDIA Isaac Sim to model the brownfield environment and validate humanoid feasibility before physical deployment.
- CAD Design & Prototyping: Design mechanical fixtures, gripper adapters, or sensor mounts using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Inventor) and rapid prototyping (3D printing).
- Physical Testing: Conduct real-world experiments with humanoid hardware, measuring energy consumption, repeatability, and stability on imperfect surfaces.
- Process Engineering: Translate human-centric work instructions into robot-executable workflows, identifying bottlenecks in legacy processes.
- Thesis Connection: Option to link your internship to a Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis on topics like “Retrofitting Legacy Lines for Humanoid Accessibility” or “Gripper Design for Universal Tool Use.”

- are currently studying for a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, Software Engineering, Data Science or similar
- have basic programming; CAD, simulations skills and an interest in modern production systems
