Streaming AI: Cutting-edge research for sustainable artificial intelligence

“The parallel implementation of digital and ecological transformation – the so-called twin transition – is the top innovation topic in industrial companies and at the same time a decisive competitive factor for Upper Austria as an innovation location. Only those who master both equally well will assert themselves in international competition and be successful. Artificial intelligence (AI) is a central key technology. AI has enabled many leaps in innovation and has become an integral part of industrial practice. The great potential of AI must be further exploited with sustainable and efficient processes. This is the goal of the new Streaming AI research project, which is led by the Pro²Future research center from the UAR Innovation Network,” explains Economics and Research State Councilor Markus Achleitner.

The project title Streaming AI stands for an innovative concept that focuses on the efficient and environmentally friendly use of artificial intelligence (AI) in industry. The Pro²Future research center from the UAR Innovation Network leads the project and works with two institutes at the Johannes Kepler University Linz – with the Institute for Pervasive Computing under the direction of Univ.-Prof. Dr. Alois Ferscha and with the Institute for Machine Learning by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Sepp Hochreiter – both of whom also work in Pro²Future. “The two scientists are luminaries in their fields and have a significant influence on the technological development of AI models and their application in industrial practice,” emphasizes State Councilor Achleitner.
